The boats have yet to arrive, so prepping them was out of the question. The staff took the opportunity to fix those small things that are never fixed.
I jumped at the task of fixing one of the heads (boat restroom facilities) on Ocean Star. After having grown up on a boat where I have seen my father fix boat heads for more times than I can count, I really felt that I should be able to solve the problem. In theory. And to be fair, I did solve the problem in theory with minor assistance from mate Jack. I wanted to make sure that I would not cause a larger problem than the problem that was already at hand – fixing toilets can be messy business. Most of the day was spent walking around trying to find some sort of productive task. It is the calm before the storm. The yachts will arrive just a couple of days before the shipmates (students) do. It will be hectic. But for now I am enjoying the lull of the Caribbean.
