The beginning of a new chapter, yet basking in the old

Today I officially started a new chapter in my life. It is the chapter where I take off and leave the city that has nurtured me and taught me so much about the beauty and cruelty of life. The city of Uppsala has to a great extent formed me, reformed me, and then remolded me into who I am today. Today is the official starting day of me starting to write my master’s thesis. Luckily for me, in reality, I am not due to start working on in just yet. I still have to await the incidence of some bureaucratic events, and until then I am in a strange limbo where I can spend my time as I please. Today I chose to spend some of my time with the hockey team that has taken me under its wings for the past years. Having had a history of being an athlete competing at a competitive level, simply quitting playing was never really an option. I have tried to stop playing more times than I can count but my love for the game always keeps bringing me back. The team I have been playing for is a men’s division 4 Student team whose philosophy is that students shouldn’t have to quit playing just because life got in the way. I have had my best hockey memories with these guys, and no mighty championship game that I have played or medals won are worth more to me than the respect and love I have received from the members of this team. Thank you Gästrike Hälsinge Nations IF - I will miss you the most from my time in Uppsala.
