Chasing rainbows, butterflies, and crocodile nests

I never thought I would be crossing rivers with crocodiles in them. Nor did I think that it would ever be appropriate to get in the shower fully dressed, with shoes on. Most of the day was spent crossing small creeks and rivers, cutting down jungle that was in the way. It turns out that finding crocodiles during the day is pretty hard, and finding the nests as it turns out is even harder. Our local guide Blas took us to all the locations close by where they have seen baby crocodiles in the past. We found a couple of old nests, but there were no eggs in them yet. After about eight hours of walking along the riverbanks we stopped at Blas’ grandma for some lunch. There is something special about being invited to the house of an old local lady and being allowed to rock in her rocking chair. In spite of having worked extremely hard and having left no stone unturned we decided to call it a day. Better luck tomorrow!
