I just saw a large feline, probably a puma, and I almost peed my pants. Shorty thereafter a scorpion casually walked up my leg in the shower, and earlier today I saw a baby crocodile plead for its life with bright green eyes as one of the eggs broke. I have had my fair share of adrenaline and emotional roller coasters for today, and I am now in bed, at 8.27 pm hoping that no other animals will pay me a surprise visit in my sleep. The past couple of days have been a work marathon with early mornings starting at 4.30 to match the tides. Tomorrow I am waking up at 5 am, but I am strangely excited about the half hour extra of sleep I’ll get. I have at this point found 7 of the 8 nests I need/want and it is almost time to wrap things up. If I’m not completely exhausted tomorrow I’ll write some more about the jaguar/puma sighting. I was very lucky. There are people who have worked in the park for 20 years without ever seeing one. My pulse is settling down a little now, that’s nice.
